New Mommy...

I am so sorry, I was busy with my new babies. I have 21 new mouths to feed, they were delivered yesterday morning and I have been getting them settled. Ten are dinner birds and eleven are egg birds. Plus one of my grown-up girls has been bullied by some of the others so I have to cover her bare bits with a purple goop that they don't like the taste of, anyway I am getting some pictures together and wee will have a photo-update.

Peace and love to you all...

Get back to work...

Okay. I'll be getting back into the blog-o-sphere. My lap-top is pretty well worthless. I got a good deal on a new tower, under $200...are you kidding? No, really!! and I will be knuckling down and getting back into the grind. Thank you all for your support and  tally-ho.

My son just drove my daughter to school... was that the phone?...No, false alarm, micro-wave. Anyway I am on pins and needles waiting for them to come home safely...only six hours to wait...hardly anytime at a...was that the phone?...No, back-up alarm on delivery truck, anyway, it's not as if I was worried. I'm not one of those over-protective, worrisome mothers. Heck no, I am calm and....was that the phone?... No, bicycle bell? Okay, anyway...I think I'll go get some bread for dinner and if you should pass by the school parking lot; pay no attention to the woman draped over the hood of a student's car...weeping. That won't be me, nope I'm not one of those over-protective types.
Peace and love to you all....

OH-oh where have you been...

My computer bit the big one...so I was technologically deficient. No email, no blogging, no shopping...aaaaah. Anyway I remained busy. We lost Mrs. Wiggins. She was just gone one morning. She was peacefully stretched out next to the dust bath, she looked like she was sleeping, but chickens don't sleep like that. It was probably a form of gout which causes dehydration and kidney failure. She never layed an egg. The very next day, the girls layed 10 eggs. That's right someone produced two eggs on the same day. I like to think of it as a farewell salute to a lost sister...okay girls, chicken power (pumping fist in the air)

Yesterday I collected 12 eggs..( wtf?? ) Okay, this is getting creepy.

My daughter is making chocolate truffles in an attempt to kill me through sugar poisoning. She is a very talented dessert cook. I love trying her new creations...I'm not supposed to, but I love it anyway.
And I'm not just saying that so I can bum her computer...I really mean it.

Peace and love to you all...

There is no joy in Muddville....

Okay so who didn't watch the super bowl? WHAT, are you nuts ?!! My whole family watched it, although in honesty my daughter just wanted the chicken wings and spinach dip. The first half was boring I'll admit. My husband came back and watched the half-time show...and ate chicken wings.

After the power failure, when the game picked up, the cheering began. Me- "WOO HOO, GO, GO, GO !!" My husband- " Yes, well run, good job, nicely executed play". My daughter- " Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, listen to how dad cheers. He is so fun to listen to, really!" So our new task is to teach my husband how to cheer.

So the food was bitchin' and the game was pretty good...after the power failure. The commercials were fun. Except for the Go.Daddy geek smooch...yuck. The dog got some snacks too.

But, in the end, they lost. My daughter was happy because she was cheering the Ravens....traitor. She likes Michael Oher (from the "Blindside"). So there is no joy in Muddville, they lost...

Peace and love to you all...

In the bleak mid-winter...

I woke up to a white sheen across my garden, frost. 27 degrees !! Yikes, the dog wanted mittens, get out there you wimp. Cold, cold, cold, everything is cold. I had to break the ice on the water font for the chickens and put hay down on the ground for them to walk on. They wouldn't mind walking on the cold ground, but when their feet freeze and fall off; I would feel bad watching them thump around on nubbins.

"Come on Yogi, keep up!" I drag him along on the lawn-cicle.  The grass crunches beneath our feet. The sky is clear and the sun starts to crest over Table Mountain. I don't really mind the cold when I am wearing my "big coat" and walking the dog. It is quiet and we are alone. Sometimes I like that. It is nice to have some time to put your thoughts together before the day begins. To watch the sun break free and hear the ice cracking as it warms, to see the chickens scratching on the frozen ground and see the new eggs in the nests is peaceful and life affirming.

I look up at the geese flying overhead and think about floating in the air and... what the ?? Oh Yogi, why did you do that on the path? Yuck, you knew I was walking there...stop snickering..come back here you coward. Time to get a shovel..

Peace and love to you all...and watch out where you step...

I gave in....

Yup, I caved, sold out, threw in the towel, surrendered. I called up the satelite company and signed us up again. My kids are happy and my husband is ecstatic. He is not a techno-geek and the whole streaming thing really put him off.
"Honey," he would shout up the stairs, "which remote do I use? The one with the green light,  the one that says Samsung or the one with tape holding the battery in? " I would answer him and hear:

"It isn't working...nope, still not working...THIS IS CRAP!!"

Then I would go downstairs and find him sitting in the dark; staring at the TV and mumbling to himself. So, I had to do something...I made the call. Now we have state-of-the-art technology at the push of a button and just one remote. (not to mention a two year commitment)

So, to keep my husband happy, let my kids see some of the popular programming and get my cooking shows; I made the call. Now if I could just find out what happened to the "Naked Chef" and the "Two Fat Ladies" I'll be happy too.

Peace and love to you all....

Resolutions...

I hereby resolve to finish my projects...sometime this year. That's not a cop-out. Those of you who know me, know I am ten years into some of my projects, and months into others. I resolve to finish my studio refurbish, to finish the basement, to finish the guest room, to...oh heck, I'll start with walking the dog and see where that leads.

Its not that I procrastinate...it's that I take a long time to start things and finish things. But this year will be different, this year I will be better. No really, why are you laughing? No seriously, this year I have meds. This year I know why I struggled to maintain the energy I need to tackle these complex tasks. This year my husband is retired and able to help me do the difficult things that stop my progress. This year I...(where did I put my pills ? get out of the way, honey, I can't see where my pills are!)

This year will probably be like every year. Don't beat yourself up about it, we are meant to be faithful learners. Do your best and leave God the rest. He knows. Don't leave the world filled with your regrets. Don't judge other people's intentions. I follow my faith's teachings, I love everyone, some people from a distance. I pray for everyone and hope some of them pray for me. Good luck,

Peace and love to you all...
